we run Carrier units mostly. TK has their own switch setup as well. It is litterally a magnetic switch mounted to the door that connects to the reefer micro.
Frustrating, shippers insist on opening doors and sit at dock.

I would leave mine running.
I just liked the smell the ac and it made pulling the pallets out easier to a scissor dock delivering groceries. -

Been reefering for 10 years:
In the summer I pre cool to 18* leave it on start stop while getting loaded. Most places r cool with it.
Some places where they r stupid I show them trailers at high idle hovering 15*-20* then they say oh...lmao
I tell them ur defrosting the trailer and making it hotter By keeping it running. If they say still keep it on -10, I turn it to -10 and when they walk away I put it back on 18* continously that way it's not on high idle and defrosting a lot!!!
Unloading: I keep doors closed until they come out. WHEN I FEEL THEM START UNLOADING THE TRL GOES OFF
NEVER A CLAIM
Rarely run continuous unless it's really hot out and the produce is off the field.Last edited: Mar 21, 2024
Chinatown Thanks this. -
It's your engine not there's these places aren't supposed to care ABOUT UR EQUIPMENT. And I will nit unnecessarily run mine wide open for stupid reasons...
Be smart about it and use commin sense. Even in Chicago when it gets 0* out MY TRL IS OFF if it a frozen load.
Chilled loads if it's 30* out the trl is off until of course when I get to customer. NEVER A CLAIM common sense.
My unit: carrier '11 2500a only has 10k hours in 12years. ASK ME HOW...
When this blows I'm getting another carrier 2500a not none of this new crap
And let's not talk about the fuel usage at the end of the year.
THEY THINK ABOUT THERE BUSINESS 1ST
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO THINK ABOUT YOURS 1ST TOO -
