Hello, I reside in TX, and the company I was let go from has a terminal in Texas, as well. When trying to fill the unemployment application correctly, there are two questions asking if we have had to work out of the state of TX since 2022, etc. How would I go about filing and being honest?

I've worked for companies with main HQ in different states, but always filed where I resided.
unless you commute to work, then you actually work in that state.
my last company I worked at for 10yrs was based in Ohio and I worked out of the NC terminal and always filed NC taxes.bifig89 Thanks this. -

Call your local unemployment office and ask.

I'm not sure that it's this complicated. In Oregon you file in Oregon if you are a resident of Oregon. Other states may have different rules but every week I get a very small deduction on my paycheck that goes to the state of Oregon that is a mandatory employee contribution to the employment division in the state of Oregon. It was for .40 cents and listed on my stub as OR - WBF Assessment Emp.

File in the state you live in. They will contact and verify the employer , even if from another state.
bifig89, nextgentrucker and Numb Thank this. -
Also, why are you filing for unemployment when there are plenty of jobs available here in Texas?Last edited: Mar 24, 2024

My husband and I drive teams and we have pets that restrict the options of companies available to us.
