If I ever need a flap I always look at the back of the lot if they have a curb to back into there is always some there that just got pulled off when the driver bumped the curb.

I prefer Whites if I've got a heavy load, Lee-Hi if I'm light, because once you're back on I-81 from Lee-Hi, it's a long pull to get back to top gear.
I'm not too worried about the lack of lottery tickets and beer. At least it isn't closing and it won't become a Pilot!simplyred1962 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Good point!Especially if you be southbound that ramp is a grade getting back on 81.simplyred1962 and Coreyberky Thank this.

Honestly that's what i usually do, but i couldnt find any at this place. Plus i decided to use it as a way to get a shiny new pair on my tractor. Pulled em off the tractor put them on the trailer and put new ones on my tractor. I do not see any reason that this would be a problem to the company, the only problem with my tractor ones is that one was a werner mudflap with the writing worn off, and one was a FLEET TRUCK SALES mudflap that apparently maintenance had found ripped off in the yard. Weird thing is it was originally upside down before being ripped off and finding its way on my truck. WTF?
I'm going to have to trim these this weekend when im home though. Way too long!
After that i want to buy those chrome mudflap accessories. Should be way cool...
(werner approves of chrome)

It sux that they made the restraunt in Whites the same as the Lee Hi. If I wanted to eat at the Lee Hi I would have stopped there. I stopped in Whites tonight to fill my thermos, it was $3.00. I won't be back. Sad after stopping there for the last 25 years.
simplyred1962 and HFC Thank this. -
That is one thing I would never do. Put chrome on someone else's truck.

Whites has much improved over last couple months, the previous owners had really let it run down. The restaurant is non-smoking because virginia law changed jan 1, same time the new owner took over, not because he is super-religious. They still sell lottery tickets at the exxon out front, same owner, just not selling them at the truckstop anymore. and whites has never sold beer. most truckstops dont.

The point was, was that for a TRUE, truckstop, of the ORIGINAL version, White's was one of the very, VERY FEW, in the entire country, that was a truck stop in the tradition.
You could pull your rig in, get your truck serviced, get fuel, get a shower, get some GOOD, OLD-FASHIONED GOOD truck stop eats, see some really COOL antique stuff, get some HISTORY of not ONLY that area, but those around.
AND, the waitresses and cashiers could tell ya a thing or two about the regulars, the not-so-regulars, and the absolute nuts they encounter, in just a regular transaction.
These days, you are lucky to get more than your total amount due on food, fuel, cigs, or whatever, with even a "how-do-ya-do" from them.
And, Coreyberker, I don't know which truck stops YOU might be going to.....but MOST truck stops DO sell beer. And, YES, White's did, as well.
I'm just sad to see one of the few remaining REAL truck stops, go by the wayside.

We stopped at Whites about a month ago. The coffee was the worst of any truck...just poured it out. Didn't eat there, figures that being operated by Ambest would be crap.

The part that sucks is this is happening all over the country. I wish I had taken photos of all the real truckstops I've been in. They had an ambiance all to themselves.simplyred1962 Thanks this.
