So I was told last month. That's somewhere in the FMCSA that says you should be carrying your SS card with you. First time I ever heard about it. I tried to Google about it. Got nothing. Was they making stuff up or is it true?
Required to carry SS card?

100% myth.
TX2Day, Tb0n3, Rideandrepair and 10 others Thank this. -
Never heard of this. I still have my original one from 1973, back then you could laminate them, however when I went to get my Real ID, it wasn’t valid cuz of being laminated. Had to get a replacement. I don’t carry it anymore. Besides, you figure after all these years, how could you not know your numbers.Last edited: Mar 27, 2024

My original is so old it is unreadable today. I had to get a replacement back in the 90s. It was issued by what used to be the US Dept of Health Education and Welfare. Also on the back is my old handwriting from my first night at Lackland AFB in Dec 1975 where I wrote my Squadron and Flight numbers. The writing is getting faint now.Rideandrepair, Flat Earth Trucker, Freddy57 and 2 others Thank this.

As stated above, this is a myth. From my experience, even being required to have access to a card is a myth. I haven't seen mine for more than 50 years, I have never needed it.

Keep your SS card locked away in a safe place. You do not need to carry it and would be well advised not to.
