Yes I totally agree. I've always felt that one of the worst things about the Internet, is that it's a lot easier for people to be a bully by hiding behind a keyboard. Which is too bad. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you.

Headboard is mounted behind the cab. I do skateboards. Like I mentioned, it crosses my mind every time I look between the cab and back board. Possibly toward the main structure of the headboard frame. That would put the base around the catwalk so to speak. Let me post this picture to give you an idea, not the best angle though.

Thank you for the picture, very nice looking truck. I would think it would be worth trying an antenna mounted on the top of the headboard, rather than between the cab and headboard. It's possible that aluminum headboard would act like the horizontal elements on a base antenna. I know it's not ideal since it would be a vertical ground plane instead of horizontal, but it would be interesting to see the numbers using an antenna analyzer. After all the fun part is experimenting when it comes to antennas.

Dont forget to bond rack to frame to...Paint/dirt/ rubber would insulate that rack for a gooder(lol)rf bond..

That's a good point. Also maybe Dave should use a top loaded antenna. It may give him that edge to reach out farther.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

I’m already running a 2k Wilson with a 18” extended shaft that I’ve had over 35 years. Ive always mounted on the mirror mount and had excellent readings. But I’m always open to more. Always heard excellent reviews with a 102” whip. Issue has always been where to mounted without any interference.

Your antenna has a bent tip, that means the signal is bent coming out of the antenna.

    handlebar Thanks this.

My last stinger was worse, still worked fine. Have any ideas how to straighten it out without snapping it ?
