Worth a try but I don’t think it would stay put.
If the issue is the antenna contacting the paint and scratching it, some heat shrink tube at that height might work better.
What CB antenna

zip tie on the bottom side of the tennis ball.Diesel Dave and Concorde Thank this. -
Or maybe a little adhesive on the ends once the tennis ball is in place will keep from sliding.Tall Mike Thanks this.

Well that antenna didn’t work out well..snapped right off at the base. Another $75 down the drain. Fiberglass antennas don’t last either, soon as they get ice buildup they snap right off.
Amazingly it still worked, lol.
I guess I just drive too fast.. -
Do tell what name brand it was …..Concorde Thanks this.

No spring ? I scrolled back and found what probably is/was the antenna in question?Concorde Thanks this.
-
If you scrolled back some, I recommended you to add a quality spring. Sorry about the loss.
Concorde Thanks this. -
Yes, it was this antenna..spring? No.
Recently ran across NE @ 75mph with a 35 mph headwind which probably didn’t help in its failure. What’s strange is that I didn’t notice any performance issues with my CB..just noticed today that the antenna was gone!
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
In cold temps if you just wipe down the ant with wd 40 it helps with build up...Its a wonder you didnt notice your swr creeping up..
You could always add some pvc pipeing to strengthen the base...Did that with my skip shooters, all is good..
