can't confirm but heard due to lack of trucks there's a hiring freeze going on...

 

The job descriptions on their website indicate that they prefer you to have a year of tractor-trailer experience but will consider somebody with 6 months. Whenever you talk to their recruiters, don't forget to include the fact that the mixer truck you're driving has a high center of gravity and carries a "dynamic load," because the mud you're hauling moves around inside the drum just like the commodities that Indian River hauls sloshes around inside their trailers.

 

Plus, if he can get along with the batch man at the plant and the foreman on the job he can probably get along with anybody.

 

Things have slowed down considerably in the North East so that won't help either.

 

how often do you get border crossings? More North or South?

 

I'm the opposite I have a brand new truck with a top bunk that's folded and I really don't like it , I miss my old truck with the storage shelves

There's multiple empty trucks sitting in Florida at the terminal, freight has slowed down and we aren't going to certain customers we used to always go to for whatever reason

 

I only cross in the North, never even seen a Southern border crossing. Having said that, Canada freight has slowed significantly. Before I would go an average of 4 per week. Now it's maybe once per week. We do still load up there, but that is dependent on the Cranberry season.

Canadians just aren't drinking as much Orange juice as I believe the price has risen dramatically. No clue what OJ sells for these days as I never buy it.
