I’m looking to sign on with someone and it seems everyone looking for owner operators is from the Chicago area. Why is this?

Everybody wants to be a comedian. The truth is, Chicago is the hub for most freight, the RR is huge, and anything Midwest goes through Chicago. O/Os could be for the intermodal, which has come a long ways. Caution is advised, however.
W923 Thanks this. -
Have you thought about co's based out of S.E. like Atlanta area that haul carpet west and come back with produce ? This keeps you running I-10/I-20 and busy. Are you team ? Or solo.

Ditto this. I had to leave CA due to AB5 and CARB. Put the truck in Chicago. Never a problem getting a load out. Coming back in requires some compromise on the last leg of running 2-3 weeks. Lease to a good group that I'm happy with.201 Thanks this.

Its likely those white volvo flip flop carriers are looking for suckers to trip into their ridiculous contracts and sign your life away. And disconnect E Log, run you hard with more miles, to make up with the cheap freight.. 99% of them are nothing but loadboard junkies.. You gotta weed through all that eurotrash in order to look for a decent carrier.
Keepforgettingmypassword and Davehrose1 Thank this.
