I've looked into this as well. Looks like your best bet may be the BullyDog Power Pup for big rigs. Unless, of course, you can find someone who will give you a copy of your engine manufacturer's software, along with the plug in thingy.

What you want to know is every time a you go into the program it logs it and takes down the computers home address, If it has no address it would come up as unknown and if your unit has any work done on it it will come up. Not only that most company trucks are on a password and those parameters can not be changed, without the password.

That's fine my truck my bills. Its so when I accidentally get sent to the republic of ontario and California I can set up the numbers as needed. Apparently the chain gang bosses have nothing better to do with there time than look at HP and speedo settings when they should be dealing with all transport issues including 4 wheelers.

If you have a Cat, the Bully Dog Power pup will let you change the speed limiter settings, as well as loading an economy or economy plus power tune. Be advised, though, that they say you should allow a couple of hours to make the changes.

Other than that I think you'll have to get the factory software... maybe your local tuner can help you out? But even then you still have to get the plug in thingy(sorry, the actual term esacpes me atthe moment).

I think there may be a hand held unit that lets you do this as well, but I don't know who makes it.

Not too familiar with truck side of things however in the heavy equipment side of the cat world the computers are locked while under warrenty. Suspecting truck is the same.

If you can get a Cat ET program and cable you can get into the computer and change the hp settings. If there is no more warrenty just need them to give you the pass word.

Of course that's in the event you run a cat.

Imagine most makes are the same or close to it.

Also with the Cat ET you can diagnose your truck in the event you break down.

Check the serial number plate on the engine. MBN is bridge for sure, maybe there are others?
