My understanding is that the belting that is used is sub standard.

Oxbow and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.

I’m only running Michelin now. I was on Bridgestones for years but they’ve turned to crap. My only hope is Michelin will maintain their quality or we’re screwed and might as well run Chinese.

Never put much thought into the rolling resistance thing, but my last few tanks have been up to almost 6 mpg with these Toyos from~ 5.5 with the BS, maybe I should of thrown them away sooner….

new trailer also has the aero thing under the center so guess it could be a combo of both but I’ve had that for a few months now

Oxbow, W923 and Tug Toy Thank this.

Just thought I'd update. 9 months in on 4 of these tires, and they're having to be replaced. The other 4 have maybe a month in them.

IMO, not worth the worry, not worth having to do the job roughly three times, compared to the longevity I got out of the Michelins.

So, back to the XZE's for me.

Oxbow, Derailed, Truckermania and 5 others Thank this.

That was definitely expected. The only time I’d run cheap Chinese tires is if the truck runs offroad all the time and has a big probability of being cut up with sharp rocks.

    Oxbow and W923 Thank this.

I’m still running the same Toyos as when this was posted originally, probably have 70% left… seem to be decent but I did miss 9 weeks in the fall

Oxbow and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.

We've run Michelins for a long time and on a cost per mile basis they're just as economical as junk tires. We don't run very many recaps either and what few we run are from our own casings.
The recaps get used off road when our tire recapper refuses to cap them for highway use anymore.

Oxbow, Big Road Skateboard and W923 Thank this.

If you don't already, look into the Michelin advantage program.

the gold program through wex is about the same price as setting up your own michelin advantage program. It also covers other brands and works at pretty much any dealer.

Oxbow and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.
