DD16 EGT Gauge Install

    So I need to install an EGT gauge on my 122SD with a DD16. From what I understand there is a factory EGT sensor installed right after the DOC which communicates with the ECM eliminating the need for a factory gauge.

    Since my DOC was damaged and a new 1box was 15k I went a different direction with repairs. Now I need a gauge on my dash to properly monitor my EGTs.

    Is it possible to use the factory probe, and wire a gauge into it or should I put in a new probe and wiring harness?

    Generally all of the factory sensors in the exhaust system are digital and would not work with a standard analog gauge.

    It should be a K type probe, and you will need to get a kit for it either way. You can not use just plain wire with it, it has to be a specific type and length. Ask a Detroit or Freighliner dealer for the parts and have them install it.
