$200 a month for an ELD? Per truck? That seems extraordinarily high. We pay $300 per year for one truck. Fleets pay much less.
8 days a month OTR with paper logs?

Your not allowed to drive fractured (example) 8 hour periods in 24 different days equaling 192 hours driving. Your exemption would run out after the first 8-24 hour days. Based on your home time zone.
My eld cost $20.00 subscription per month. The equipment I think was around $800.00. A lot more expensive than the paper logs. That is for sure.
A lot less than $1,500 per year for my 1 truck. -

Siinman Thanks this.

You keep saying 8 days a month, but it’s 8 days out of 30. It doesn’t reset on the first of the month.
If you just ran the ELD you’d have your time clock for the short haul exemption and you could do an IFTA report with one click.Siinman Thanks this. -
I appreciate it. I went to the local DOT

I once worked for a guy where every penny counts. He was notorious for not fixing anything.

Man I thought I was paying to much for Motive. $900 a year and that includes a dash cam recorded into the cloud and IFTA.

If you’re running on the short haul exemption what are you using for a time card for the drivers? Could the FMCSA have a problem with that and not really so much you not running ELD’s? Also do your trucks start and end at the same location every day?
