If your driving a 2024 volvo, check your steer tire rims regularly on the inner side.

Three of our fleet trucks so far have had faults, all around 200,000 km (120,000 mile) mark.

Someone is going off the edge of something and causing the damage. The culprit is probably at one of your shippers or receivers..

Almost like curbing a tire and damaging the wheel on the way down..only on the inside.

Looking at that crack, it propogated along the bead until the half inch of material on either end fractured. Note how dirty the aluminum is along the bead and how shiny the aluminum is at the end in the 2nd picture.

That rim has been cracking for a while, that wasn't from an impact IMO. There aren't any cuts or scuffing damage to the tire sidewall that I can see either.

    Who manufactured those rims?

Dang, never would have thought something like that would be a common problem.

Verry very rare Bead flange flaking. Accuride had a problem 10 years back with that. Something to do with inaccuracy of forging stress in that area. If Alcoa is going thru this right now they will want to know about it. Build codes need to be checked to see if they were from same production time and plant. Many Alcoas are china built now since they spun off the wheel production to another entity.

I recall hearing that back then but couldn't remember if it was Alcoa or Accuride. I bought cheaper knock-offs instead that the parts guy said hadn't had any issues that they were aware of.
