I'd love to see the Tesla truck do actual work. Balls deep in a mudhole dragging super b's out of the bush.

Please keep us updated on any new info you find and your considerations for purchase or lease.
If I had to commute to a cubicle job that was an hour or less, I'd have an EV.
It would be so cool for a P&D operation, and/or local deliveries to be able to lock your truck with the climate control on without idling an engine while off loading or loading and securing, then get back into a nice comfy cab.ihaveaquestion Thanks this. -
kinda depends on the price point ….. and tare weight don’t you think.Deere hunter and ihaveaquestion Thank this.

oh, I got you. So nobody can figure out the gross weight of the day cab, which is probably about or close 30,000 pounds alone by itself without the trailer. it’s probably considered a stale potato chip at the moment, many who probably placed an order or bought a Tesla waiting and waiting and waiting aren’t even getting word about the trucks public release.. it’s still just running routes under wraps but getting staler by the month.. customers probably calling their lawyers now to sue for refunds or money back… the truck was supposed to release in 2019 but instead we got Covid... and then, instead of the truck we got Twitter or x which is also going nowhere… plus Tesla regular cars dying out all over the country in Arctic bomb freeze
so we know the Tesla semi has 1000 hp, when it’s loaded can go to 60 in 20 seconds.. it takes like 60 minutes or 90 minutes to fully charge…Max range 500 miles… battery capacity almost 1000 kW the battery alone probably weighs 15,000 or more… a few other things to consider and factor in the math, the charging times per week, a driver would end up spending 3-4 hours charging sitting around probably even more.. fueling diesel is a third of that or less a week of the drivers time.. that truck to go public and any owner operator to buy it and use it around the country there needs to be like 100 charging stations that are like 200 miles apart or else it’ll never work…the truck would die out everywhere around the country.. i’m sure in the future like 10 years the truck will be a hit or perhaps work.. but the things such as we don’t know is like the exact curb weight of the Tesla truck? In our industry weight is everything… also where all the mega charging stations going to be, where’s the charging map? how is IFTA taxes and other regulations going to work? they say that there’s a seven year powertrain warranty but if the batteries burn out how much is a battery replacement? compared to an engine rebuild on a diesel that blows out? and then nobody knows like the EV maintenance intervals? on a diesel engine every 30,000 miles it’s time for maintenance soon and then the thing is to replace the equipment it’s like $200,000 cause you got a buy brand new truck… so it’s like Elon shouldn’t even sell that truck to the public. He should just rent them out or like how carriers with cell phones do it, you crack your screen, call up phone carrier sends you a new phone, turn in the broken one then they just send you a new truck haha… so technically that truck will probably not even work well and huge companies like Ryder or Penske, where they have hundreds of substations all over the country.. the truck is probably bust along with X and few other things.
Boring companies Flamethrower is gangsta though haha.. Starlink I hear works well… I think the truck just needs more time. at this rate, it needs like triple or double the amount of EVS to replace diesel. That’s just way too much demand. They don’t even have Driver sitting in the seat for longer than seven months. How the hell do they expect people to sit in 1 million Tesla semi trucks for longer than a week with not sleeper version lmao.Deere hunter Thanks this. -
it’ll die Tesla will have to create like some sort of warmth for the batteries to even withstand 0° weather haha
-
hahah facts
-
yeah you just need Elon musk and Tesla to produce a megacharging station map for the country and charge ya up. Rest areas or something but they don’t even have that or the vehicle curb weight public
-
In my opinion, the Tesla semi is not worth it. For charging stations, Musk would probably want to use the already existing charging station in those tight parking lots only made for the prius because the cost of new charging stations across the country would set Tesla back a good bit. But the problem is, you can't fit an 18 wheeler in a grocer parking lot to charge. I'm pretty sure Musk is not an everyday trucker, I think if he spent one week on the road, he could easily find 1000 reasons his electric truck wouldn't work. Tesla has always been on the "residential" level and should stay there. Leave the truck manufacturing to trusted brands like Peterbilt or Kenworth or Western star. And what about the sub-zero oil ice field truckers? Gonna put a charging station at the North pole? Nope. The standard EV requires that the outdoor temperature stays between 60 and 75 year round to work properly as they can't work in the cold or hot. So if you're a Hawaiian trucker you're in good luck. Oh and did I mention the cost of insurance? Between country lines like US to Mexico or US to Canada. Or even just for the lower 48? The only thing I can thing of that the Tesla semi would be good for is the rich downtown California person who turns the semi truck into an oversize load RV. And the list goes on. Tesla should stay out of the trucking side. The government is cracking down too hard on us truckers already. They'll crack down harder if the Tesla truck comes out soon.

can you imagine running one of those in canada at minus 40

. sorry boss i can't deliver the load need to charge the truck up!!!!
