5000 btu appears to be 500 watts.

7500 btu looks to be 670 watts but I'm guessing 750 watts. Since the 10000 is 1000 watts.

A 7500 should be able to run a 10 on a 4000 watt generator. And it can probably run it on eco mode. (Idle)

Some on here have aux tanks on there gens. Most are running 2000 watts.

Apus are annoying it's like having a lawnmower next to your head. An inverter genny is alot more quiet. And if it breaks and it's not fixable you can toss it and buy a new one and move on.

maintance is a whole hell of alot cheaper with a genny vs an apu. only thing a genny would need is an oil change. if you get a portable ac or a window unit all you really need to do is clean the filter on them. one thing no one ever talks about also is down time while the trucks at the thermo queen dealer when they need it for a few days. alot of drivers say you need atleast an 8000 btu ac unit to even keep up with the heat and more so if your in a dark colored truck vs a white truck.

and i agree!!! and it's alot cheaper to maintain as well vs an apu!!! that's why i'm going with a genny plus how flexible it is. i plan on buying a charger if the truck wont start you can jump start it using the genny save on tow bills

Some gens have some type of 12 volt outlets. Positive and negative.
It might be possible to wire those to the batteries to keep em topped off. Or charge em. I don't know how much the output is. Or wire up for a battery maintainer. Walmart has 4 amps everstart brand for $22.

It's starting the compressor that's the issue.

    True.

The one I had was 800 peak 300 continuous. I don't remember the btu though. It was 20 years ago.
