Man, I went to pick up near Pittsburgh yesterday and had to go through a small strip of WV to get to the shipper and I sure thought of you man. I thought, dang you ought to come back home to Climate and run those Climate Miles now that Larry is gone lol. It seems like I've seen a BMT truck before. 1500 average length of haul is nice though! When ya starting?

I took corn germ out an brought organic soybean meal back. Bounced home today. Gotta pick up corn germ again Monday an head back out. If I get organic again I'll probably just get two loads in this coming week. Which won't be bad. It's 5500 to the truck for the 2 loads. It just takes the majority of the week cuz I do a lot of sitting in Pa but I'm also on the clock after 2 hrs. That kicks in at 12 AM on delivery date. So if I get there Tuesday night I just start my break an wait till they want it on Wednesday. So Tuesday night till 12 am is free but I end up needing my break anyways cuz they generally won't take it till Wednesday when I load Monday. Then if I get lucky I can load the back haul Wednesday an get headed back. Have to wait an see how it works out.bryan21384, Bumper and dwells40 Thank this.

Update: Food Bank in Columbia was open today, so they got delivered there. Back on track for the PFS run
Dang Taters fought back tonight in Moberly. I'm not a tater expert since I prefer mine in powdered instant form, but they rejected an entire pallet due to vendor quality. I would think 2 cases next to each other on top of a pallet is a pretty small sample size to reject 68 others, but I understand they don't want to tear open every bag just to reject em all.
Was supposed to be headed to PFS to pickup a preloaded trailer later this morning going to Alexandria, MN for a Monday delivery. Not sure what will end up happening, but I'm selfishly hoping they just have me run this trailer to the Climate yard and then take a different empty to PFS. Easy way to rack up an extra 150 miles or so and it'd be an easy ride running empties across US50.

Potato's from Monte Vista get rejected at various facilities I had been to for quality or some kind of rot that I don't remember the name for. Got an entire load rejected at Bi-Lo in Greenville once an had to take to some sorta recycling place. I believe but could be wrong that a lot of the potato crop is put into hibernation at times in storage an revived later for the shipping process. I was told that's what gets done to apples in Washington State as well. They go in storage an get all the oxygen sucked out an are stored at a certain temp which somehow keeps the food relevant.bryan21384, motocross25 and Thrasher28 Thank this.

Yeah, that makes sense. Kinda cool though. Anything that allows more food to be sourced from American farms year round is a win in my book. Explains why the only two times I picked em up warm straight from the ground was September last year.
Everyone else can enjoy hauling the other more sensitive produce though. I see horror stories of entire loads of rejected fruit for slightly damaged packaging too often on here to ever want to.
I assume your hopper work gets frustrating with rejections during off seasons too, but you all get paid both ways most of the time, at least.bryan21384 and Professor No-Name Thank this.
