As to the dishwashing scenario, I might try an old trick from my artillery medic days.

To wash our uniforms, we'd put water and a coupla caps of Woolite into a No 2 medical chest strapped atop the vehicle. The vibrations/movements during our scoots to new firing positions did a good job cleaning them, and they air dryed under the cammo nets.

Could do similar with dish soap in a bucket/tray secured on the catwalk...hmmmm:biggrin_25511:

I have a Koolatron (after throwing away two Coleman). Thought this one would last longer but it doesn't get cold enough, the spring inside the plug loses its pressure constantly. I have to unplug the thing everytime I take my 10 hr and open the plug and "fix" the spring.... This cooler is almost worthless... :biggrin_25513:

This is company truck. They don't allow more than 1000 watts power inverter. I have one, but quit using it because the thing would shut down constantly. Don't know why. Had the shop check the wires, they installed it... I gave up using the power inverter. Had to remove my fridge, can't have microwave, none of that. So, gotta use the lighter sockets. Which get very hot quickly and melted three slow cooker plugs that I bought at Pilot.:biggrin_25510:

So, I use the propane gas burner to cook. That works everytime.:yes2557:

But, don't have much time (or ambition) to be cooking. Drive all day (sometimes at night too). I cook during my 10 hr break. It takes one hr to cook the rice and vegetables (I am vegetarian and gotta have rice). Beans take longer (but I cook them sometimes too).

So I can have at least one warm meal a day. Eating like this for two years now, I lost over 15 pounds. Which is not good for me cause I was already pretty skinny. Now I look like an X-ray.... :biggrin_2559:

I like the idea of a ten dollar crock pot that runs on AC plugged into a 400 watt power inverter plugged into the lighter socket. Will try that. Hopefully the plug will not melt like the other ones I had here... Will see...

Thank you all for the great ideas! :biggrin_25514:

My former boss has the following

    Rice Maker
    Fridge (home size)
    Microwave

He has a 2500 watt inverter but his truck has an TK APU on it. For dish washing, a little soap and water and water to rinse out and clean dishes. We used plastic utensils except coffee thermoses and we both had our own.

I introduced him to sandwiches and we ate turkey and cheese for lunch and sometimes dinner. We also got curry from Indian restaurants and microwaved that. Also we ate mandarin oranges and fruit for snacks. We always drank water and never carried less than 3 gallons. I almost went through two in one day.

With a 2500 watts power inverter and an APU, one can have everything they want in the truck...

I love it Rocks. I wish companies would give drivers their creature comforts. Makes it a lot easier on the driver and eases their worries.

It works, just don't buy the grey Cobra 400 watt inverter. It's not very good. I just bought one of the yellow "Power Drive" models that Pilot just started selling. So far, so good.

power converter and walmart sells a fridge for 99 dollars. its small, but itll do the deal. your larger truck stops sell the portable ovens, frying pans, pop corn makers and whatever else they can imagine. I myself have alot of these items, but the best one of all is the small grill I can throw up on my flatbed deck and enjoy a cheeseburger or steak whenever. (well, unless its raining or Wisconsin in January.lol grill and charcoal fit under the bunk. The prices in the truck stops really dont differ much than any other "sit down/dine in" full service restaraunt. ( dont mean McDonalds) I try to stay away from the larger chains and find the "moms and pops" diners.

We do all our cooking in the truck. We use two small ovens (roadpro) that connect to the 12v outlets. We cook potatoes, rice and meat (sausages, spam, canned chicken and beef. I works great and save us a ton of money and then taste better to

We run team and hate truckstop food so I also cook lots of our food. Today I made Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli in creamy tomato sauce, grilled garlic bread, and grilled peppers. I live for my George Forman Mini grill, microwave, fridge, and cappuccino machine. lol
