USPS contractors like Evo Transportation, 10 Roads Express, and Alan Ritchey have jobs with fixed routes and start times, so barring major delays, you'll be done about the same time every day. But those are mostly local as well. Out of curiosity, since you want OTR, is that 8 am local time wherever you are, or is that always 0800 CST for example.

Stay out of the reefer sector of trucking.
Pick up & delivery times there are ALL OVER the clock -- during BOTH days AND nights.
Say "good bye" to anything vaguely resembling any kind of set schedule.
Your best "friend"....will likely be the "split sleeper" feature of the DOT clock world.
And thus -- you have been warned....

I'll never have it as good as i do now, from a scheduling flexibility standpoint. My truck just passed 500k miles (bought it new, lease purchase thru Schneider), so now I'm trying to plan for the future. Truck is well maintained so I'm hoping for another 500k but you never know.

Ive had runs where I was home by 5:30 am, so dont blow it off so easy....
In fact rare was it that I got in from ANY line haul run after 8. They want you back as early as possible so the city guys can do their thing.Rideandrepair, ducnut and ruudhompsor Thank this. -
1) Estes, like Old Dominion, can be tough to get hired on, only because they have been receiving a surge in job applications, at least a driver in Wichita KS had told me so, due to the economy wreaking havoc in the trucking industry.
2) SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, other trucking companies have had to lay off drivers & other personnel, causing the surge in job applications at these 2 companies, along with other trucking companies still going strong.
3) Either way, go ahead & apply. You may strike pay dirt & get hired on. GOOD LUCK to you!
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.Last edited: Jun 15, 2024

I'm going to ask what you are doing that you need off every morning from 8 to 12. The reason I ask is because it's not going to be good, any way I can think of it. I can think of two reasons:
1. You're on some kind of probation and have to check in every morning with your PO. That would be unlikely, but possible.
2. You have a 2nd job and need that time to work at the other job.
The problem with 1 is that most companies won't hire someone on probation because of travel restrictions and the problem with 2 is that as a driver you can't work anywhere else while off duty. Even remotely, or any other way.
If there is some other reason you need off EVERY morning from 8 to 12, I can't think of one but I could be very wrong. I am merely speculating here. I'm not trying to be nosey its just the only reasons I know for drivers to NEED off every single day at a particular time is for one of the above reasons. Or for taking some kind of medication, which, if it requires that kind of timing, probably shouldn't be taken by a driver anyway.Long FLD and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I’ll take a stab in the dark here; he’s a ‘Day Trader’ needs to be ready for the ‘markets to open’ at 0900 m-f. Just a guess.Rideandrepair and The_vett Thank this.
