Not normally a fan of the 589 or any new truck, but that white flat top is pretty frickin nice, I would take that truck any day if the week over any 579 that I have seen only aero truck that would get me to look at it is a flat top 386 with a cat
Well we could go into how your spread was likely closer to $55k in actual buying power than $30k because of inflation. Hoods have always cost more and they’ve always held their value better. It’s been that way ever since there’s been an option to a hood. That’s why I can’t figure out why it’s such a big surprise that a 589 is priced higher than a 579. He isn’t on Truckpaper and going off about how a new W900 is $240k and a T680 is $200k.
Will the 589s hold their value like the 389 or will they tank because everybody can see through its just a 567 with a hood?
You’re not wrong. But trading in even a similar spec 579 I would have been lucky to get 100k trade in when the 579 was only 10k cheaper at purchase.
Thats the way the 389 and the 386 were, and the t600 and w900 are the same also, it has always been that way, its not just a hood change, your front end is longer, which drives the steer axle further away from the driver resulting in a better ride, I also do not think the 567 has external air cleaners. 567 are also shorter wheel base, which when it comes to open deck stuff that matters. I haven't been in any of the new paccar stuff, but the doghouse on the interior used to be different also, the hoods had way more legroom in them, and I assume that is still the case, because the driver side of the interior on the average aero truck sucks, to put it lightly.
They went way out separately the interior of the 589 from other trucks! All of moving the wood trim to a different location
At this point he’s just trolling. Anyone with functioning eyes knows that it’s common for manufacturers to use the same cab with different hoods across the product line.
