It might. Thinking I may have to get under the lip with an oscillating tool and trim the nail heads off in order to get the panel out undamaged.

Not hard, but a bit time consuming. You will need to take out a few more than you actually need.
Look carefully at the ones you want to take out, follow the seams of the ones above, you will probably have to take loose two or three above and maybe along side of them. Some have a ridge that is used to set spacing, just depends on the type that was installed. Cut nail heads like you mentioned. It will be a lot like replacing asphalt shingles. Take your time, try not to fracture the existing pieces. Then you will need some sort of punch or the likes to drive the new fasteners in. Before you install the new pieces, do the primer on both sides.CAXPT, Feedman, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm trying to reuse the existing pieces if I can. This stuff is textured to look like wood grain and looks like the outside surface was moulded in its current colour. Probably a custom order thing that will probably hard to find readily available.

If it is Hardie product, the textured exterior surface is pretty common. They do have a handful of “stock pre-finished” product. You are correct, the color is actually mixed into the surface material. The one thing that could be problematic is if the original installer used really good caulking. Could be “glued down good” by that stuff. When going back in/on, really important to get all the fasteners flush to the product. If it’s raised even a little bit, with expansion/contraction it will damage the overlay part.CAXPT, Feedman, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this.

The young man who joined us this week while his dad was home fighting widow venom, will be staying with us on the local side (Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma) until his wife has their babe. They are expecting the end of September to the middle of October. He is a blessing as I was wondering which customers I was going to have to refuse freight from. He buys me some thinking and breathing room all the while I keep reminding myself this is a retirement, part time job.

Some of you will think I'm crazy but it's miserable hot here at 87 degrees. But that's about as hot as it ever gets here.
Went to Grantsville UT this morning to pick up some future additions to the freezer

Well a neighbour and I managed to slip out the bottom flashing and drip tray without any issue. Popping off the bottom piece of siding doesn't look like a terrible job. Just too bad they hired Stevie Wonder to trim the bottom siding board. I could have made a straighter cut after drinking a 6 pack.

Getting out at the right time. Supposed to be close to 100 along the Wasatch front this week.
At least thats what the weather guessers are saying. -
