First Alert Traffic | Part of Route 10 closed due to steel beam in roadway

Load stayed on the trailer, but slid off to the right . It was centered or possibly standing in the center when loaded. It's painted so shipper didn't want chains, I get it but I would've padded it well and chained it if I had to leave shipper and stop down the road and do it. Probably would have moved in a panic stop with straps only.

 

I’m going that way right now to get a small excavator….

 

He probably didn’t have a pilot car. Looks as if he decided to wrong way halfway through the turn. If he had wrong wayed it and hugged the curb while on the straight, it should have made it. That stretch isn’t very long. But he would have either needed a pilot or called the local cops out to block the hairpin. The locals would rather come out and help instead of a truck blocking the road for hours.

 

Wait, I was wrong. He did the correct setup. Look like the beam dragged the asphalt and pivoted the whole trailer. One heck of a good securement job.
Never seen that one done before.

 

plus with the side slope in that corner the trailer would have pushed down there in a hurry - like dragging into a road side ditch. I think he was pretty well doomed before he got there.

 

My customer I was hauling the excavator for this morning said he passed him out closer to Alt 10 and there was 3 escorts with him. I guess someone failed at their job…?

My buddy posted another beam in the same curve after I came through there this morning. Notice anything odd…?

Keep in mind a couple of beams have already been delivered to the destination….

 

My son sent me some pics of this road call he had to make to the weigh station.

Guy said he had a "bushing needing tightened"
