As a new licensed driver (B) I am fielding a variety of specialty work/jobs I may have an interest in. One of which would be working for the county would anyone here have any thoughts on working for the county? Is this a fair lane to go if there are possibly better paying jobs, They are starting out at 19.72 per hr and I will provide a link if possible. Do you guys feel the pay is too low?

That seems in line with county class b jobs in my area. I almost went for on this spring. $18 free health plan pension after 6 years
Rideandrepair and DanOMac Thank this. -
The govt health insurance and vacation and pension are nice .
Rideandrepair, DanOMac, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Go for it. If it works out great. If not, you’ll know quickly. Then you have an income while looking for something else.
86scotty, Rideandrepair, TX2Day and 5 others Thank this. -
Pay & cost of living vary tremendously by location. multiply hourly pay by 2 that equals the yearly pay in thousands. $20/hr = $40k/year if you work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 2 weeks vacation.86scotty, Rideandrepair and DanOMac Thank this.

Yeah here's hoping I'll hear back from them y'know? Job has closed its posting but I made sure to reach out for some clarifications. I also applied for a water and sewer tech job which pays between 26.58-33.54 which of course I applied to, still have to take my tanker test and hazmat thoughRideandrepair Thanks this.

I see, I suppose it's not technically the worse gig in the world by far, and outside of plowing snow I feel the job itself likely wouldn't ( I could be wrong) be the most difficult either hopefully. I would assume there would be overtime (wishful thinking) All of which is welcome especially starting once you get the swing of thingsRideandrepair and tscottme Thank this.

Trust me you ll plow snow
86scotty, Rideandrepair, Lav-25 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah that's no problem ( I say that now) lol. But no really I feel as if that may be the most challenging aspect of the job. Or at least I hope assuming I get a call. Id be happy if that was my first starting gig that's for sureRideandrepair Thanks this.
