We have an old style fuel transfer pump on a 6NZ and having fuel related issues we believe are due to the pump. We are grabbing a new pump from the dealer but not sure if it has the upgraded spring already in it or not. Anyone have any ideas? I have seen a couple different part numbers for the pump 384-8611 or 8612. Don't want to buy a spring kit that we don't need or isn't necessary. The engine serial is 6NZ31253.

The dealership wants to sell me a 20R1524 but I am seeing online the 384-8611 or 384-8612. Just want to make sure I am putting on a newer pump with upgrades spring. Thanks!

If the dealer you're working with cannot answer this for you then try a better dealer. This really is something they should be able to easily tell you.

I cannot answer any of that but will say this. After a company threw a hole lot of money at a 3176 in a 2505 Terrigater they replaced the hand primer pump. That fixed the problem.
Believe that is the same fuel system as yours. Theirs would come and go but got worse and worse.

Inconstant loss of prime, occasional loss of power?

You posted that to me so I take it you are asking me and not the original poster. I was just sharing but that is fine.
I do not remember that it would never not start. Would run fine for many hours or days and then have loss of power as best I remember. Have about 80 psi at the fuel filter head when I checked it. That outfit had there own traveling mechanics. I did put the hand primer pump on.
Then there was the 3406C with pecans in the fuel tank. KIMG0797.jpg Clear line from the hardware store answers a lot of questions.

Thats correct, was asking bout the thing you had. Might go for a new primer pump, have the blockoff plate on my older truck but has no checkvalve in it (new fuel filter block (both water sep AND filter housing), 100% new fuel lines, new tanks, new fuel pump, still quite grumpy to start after 15 hrs though. (Sucking air between tanks/water sep, but not sure if its leakdown from primer pump block, or actual hose issue) havent bothered with it since that truck isnt in use, but id like to get it going again by next spring

Heh pecans in the tank ehh, thats umm, ive heard of cleaning carbs with walnut shells but pretty sure pecans in the diesel isnt a normal method of tank cleaning
