Where is everyone #5

Kinda looks like maybe he cut a corner got the guard rail and #### snowballed downhill from there— but my eyes ain’t what they used to be

 

I was thinking at first that the driver accidentally walked the trailer into the ditch (rookie mistake), but the beam dug in and suddenly the whole trailer swung into the ditch. The beam and the 5th wheel are holding up the trailer. That was a whole lotta torque on that 5th wheel.

 

See that huge scratch mark on the pavement that starts at the fog line and ends at the back of the beam? It was made by the beam.

 

He doesn’t have pilot cars. His beam is smaller?

 

Well, it's a day cab instead of a sleeper. Probably helping get more of the corner with the shorter frame getting it up further before the rear wheels get to that pitch. I had to zoom in the other picture, and it appears that the dunnage that is holding it up, is laying on the right side, so I'm guess that pavement scratch started because it disconnected from the dunnage (straps stretching/flexing) as the 5th wheel part got to the other side and then the pitch just made it worse and allowed the beam to topple the dunnage while the straps were flexing.

 

I thought by looking at the skid mark on the pavement that the beam was loaded standing, this picture confirmed.

 

Yesterday I seen some young men putting up small bale straw. Briefly recalled how much fun I had as a kid doing that.

 

Now that's one to hang on the wall! Great picture.

 

Not sure, he just told me he seen 3 escorts, you would think he would have a person in front blocking traffic.

In the pic I posted last night you can see a small TTA bus or van of some kind passing the beam in the curve, and another vehicle in front of the tractor but no escort or pilot car….

 

Correct they were standing. Came east on I-64 yesterday afternoon and seen another beam in the rest area before exit 11, it had a large car hooked to it.

I know he wasn’t going to make the curve, maybe that’s were the day cab comes in….?
