I'v been driving 12 years and I don't understand why Schneider gets such a bad name. From everything I have seen, heard researched it is a very decent company. Mabey it's just the size of it that gets people skuaking. I'd work for them but there pay isn't quite up to what I make now. As far as the training companies go I feel it's by far the best. Good luck

Like I said, I just went through training in November and the only people who drove manuals were bulk drivers and a hand full of dedicated drivers. Thats the way it was in Carlisle anyway. And I have spoke to guys from the van class and they're driving autos.

After a few months of research, it seems to me choosing an otr company is basically an exercise in choosing the least worst option. It seems any company you choose as a rookie will have some good and some bad, attitude and a willingness to put up with a fair amount of bs seem to be key. Most companies by definition are in it for the bottom line and will :jerk: you around to a certain point in order to do whatever it takes to increase their profit margin at your expense.

Basically like anything, it is what you make of it. BOL.

Very little good to say about this company. Good driver services, I suppose this is the main reason most of their drivers stay with them, Ive been with them 8 months now and it will be my last I start with STL next week. They are very dishonest company, they seems to deceive employees anyway they can. This is easy to support just go to their website and you will see they pay someone with 6 months to 1 yr experience 32 cents a mile.....Thats a lie I am getting 29 cents a mile and what do they tell me, 2 cents less for company Per Deim, and its their practice to have you enrolled so you have to opt out if you dont like it, and you can only do the quarterly. Also they cut 1 more cent out because I am on a dedicated account, something I was hired to do, and they told me then how much I would be making. Another bad thing is they Dont pay Practical or Rand McNally miles, They pay samething called House Hold Mover Miles, let me tell you this completely ripping off the driver. My last 2 weeks out I ran 6100 actual miles and was only paid for 5500. They claim they difference is made up through the rest of their pay package. Wrong. All it does is confuse most drivers so they dont realize they are making off like hogs with the money you earn. I have caught them several times not trying to pay me those "extras" suck as Short haul bonuses, lumper pay, detention pay, pallet jack pay, ect. You have to watch them close and sometime even haggle with them a bit. What a pain who wants or should have to go through this? And here is something that irritates me to no end a big part of their pay package is a 2 cent mile bonus for Fuel, safety and Overspeed. That should bring me to 34 cents a mile but they base the fuel bonus of the new trucks that all have labasto (heaters that run seperate from the engine) My truck is one of the very few they have without one, but they still base my truck off the same idle percentage as the rest of the trucks. 25% during the winter 15% the rest of the year. You do the math they expected me idle the truck 6hrs or less this winter. WTF? How does a person sleep when its winter? They #####ed at me because my idle was to high, I told them get me a different truck then, my dispatcher said no, and that 25% was "doable" I told her as soon as she proved to me she shut her furnace at home off at night I would consider doing the same. It is unrealistic and unfair and just plain selfish of them. I keep going on about other things but I think this is the worst of it and you get the point. I hope my next company is better, I guess it would be difficult to be worst without trying.

It's hard to believe that any of what you are saying is true. I've been with Schneider for about 4 months now. They're entire pay package is in black and white online and on paper when you're hired. Different parts of the country get paid different amounts and that could be your difference in pay versus what you saw online. As far as per diem goes, thats your fault for signing up for it. They give you a paper to opt out when you're hired. If you did some research you'd know if it was right for you or not. They even give you a dvd to watch telling you all the pros and cons of per diem. My truck doesn't have a heater either and I get 40% for idle time. Even if you get to 50%, you still get half your bonus. It kinda sounds like you got on your STL's bad side from the door. I don't know. I guess everyone has a different attitude, different expectations, and a different experience, but everything has been exactly what they said it would be for me. No complaints here. I would recommend Schneider to anyone.

Don't let it bother you, an average of 920 miles a day is not bad.

Are you kidding? Most companies that run teams want you average 45mph and some even 48 mph some expidite companies want 50- 52mph average. so if you have 11 hours to drive that would be a average of 990 miles a day which would be on the low end. Now if you are not farting around at the Petro you should be able to kick it up a notch and do 48 mph even in a schnieder truck. That would be 1056 miles per day. As a solo on slow I-5 I could do 1056 in 2 shifts without even drinking a cup of coffee let alone thinking I was rushed.

On the other hand due to your newness they should not even be worried about miles. They should be worried about if your learning the ropes or not.

BigBlue is right. You're still in the "honeymoon" phase with those guys, so they're treating you with kids' gloves. They're letting you get your beauty sleep because you're green, which is understandable. Green drivers need that extra attention. Now the question is "When is the honeymoon over?"

Soon you may be think this outfit is running you too hard. This is because they're treating next week's (or even tomorrow's) new guy with the kids' gloves and letting him get his beauty sleep.

If you're making barely over $700 every two weeks after five years on the friggin job, $350 per week after 14 days sound pretty good.
