I work for a mega and live in South Carolina. The trucking terminal is in South Carolina. Every day, I drive to North Carolina at a grocery DC where the mega carrier has a contract with to pick up a load and head back to South Carolina with it making a few deliveries before I drop the truck off back at the South Carolina terminal and go home. When I first started on this account 5 years ago, they would T-Call the load when I would shut the truck down at the South Carolina terminal.
So lets say I get a load for 300 miles and when I drop off the last delivery, instead of driving back to the North Carolina terminal and shutting the truck down there, I drive back to the South Carolina terminal where I live and shut the truck down. They used to pay me extra miles because driving back to South Carolina terminal is more miles out of the way than to drive directly back to North Carolina.
What used to be 350 miles after T-Call is now just 300 miles because they did away with T-Call, stating since I don't have to share my truck, there is no reason to t-call anymore.
Am I getting screwed over? I make 65 cents a mile and work 6 days a week. If you add it over the last 5 years of no T-call, that's a lot of money.
Am I getting screwed over on pay? Please help me out.

Sounds like your a day late amd a dollar short... Should have raised the issue with them the very first time you didnt get T-called.
tscottme, hope not dumb twucker and gentleroger Thank this. -
I did. But they said since I'm no longer slip-seating with another driver and I have an assigned truck, they don't need to t-call me anymore.
From my estimates, I am missing around 7-$8,000 in t-call miles over the last 5 yearsaustinmike Thanks this. -
Only you can decide if it worth it or not.

Are you getting paid for the all miles you drive their truck?
What is a ‘T-Call’?austinmike and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
All I can say is "welcome to trucking"

Even without getting paid the out of route miles to go home you must feel your pay is adequate seeing how you’re still there 5 years later.
austinmike and Milr72 Thank this. -
Drive the truck back to N.C. terminal and drive your personal vehicle home. That way you are getting paid for all the miles. On the other hand by allowing you to park at the S.C. terminal they are furnishing you with transportation to your area for your time off. How much would it cost you to drive your own vehicle back and forth each time you take time off?

65 cpm multiplied by 50 miles......just over 30 bucks a day. Hmmmm......that's a tough one. 150 to 180-ish weekly depending on whether you work 5 or 6 days. Look at it this way: you reduced your tax liability.

If you look hard enough there is always at least one reason to quit any job.
The one california kid Thanks this.
