I wasn't sure were to post this but my question is does anyone know of any trucker tax people in or around the Atlanta, Georgia area that I can talk to and see face to face to make sure I can make use of my full deductions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Folks, trucker taxes, as much as some would have you believe, are no different from any other businesses' or company employees' taxes.
It's hilarious to me, a tax pro for more than 15 years, to read postings here of those who "aren't advertising" their services, advertise their services.
Seek out a good LOCAL tax professional, who can provide you with good LOCAL references, and go see her/him...not some person who solicits you over the internet. Oh, and expect to pay for the service. It's how they feed their families.
Best advice I can give...keep perfect records. There are numerous FREE sources of info for professional truck drivers (just do a google search) to help you figure out the things you need to keep up with. And do it EVERY day...don't let this stuff pile up. You will get tired, take an attitude of "it was just a couple of bucks", and from there you start costing yourself $$...probably enough to pay for professional tax help.
From there, any GOOD tax pro will be able to help you. This has nothing to do with the business you are in...contrary to what some would have you believe. -
I agree.
The better the records, the better result. -
I was fed up with H@R block or jackson hewit.Paying over $245.00
I found a cpa in the phone book, called up, asked if he had done truckers taxes"yes".So I went down payed $100. an he was done in 20 min. This guy new his stuff. -
He's either way undervaluing his services...or you are getting what you are paying for. There's no free lunch...I promise. -
If you keep good records, you can do your taxes yourself with Turbo Tax or other tax software and save yourself A LOT of $$$$!! I used to pay someone to do my taxes until I learned that they are using the SAME software that we can get online for $50 or $75. Jackson-Hewitt and H&R Block are the worst! The "preparers" are nothing more than someone capable of data entry. I recommend Turbo Tax because it is up-to-date with the per-diem allowance. So, save some money and frustration and do it yourself!
DedHedEd Thanks this. -
Good luck.123456 Thanks this. -
I've used turbo-tax myself for years, have done my own taxes for years. The only time I didn't do them was when I had my own cleaning biz years ago and had employees. My accountant did my taxes the years I had employees. I know all the hoops etc and learned enough from my accountant to do them myself.
Turbo-tax walks you through everything that's available just as my accountant would.
