For the most part I would say so.
Hopefully I figure something out.
I just think back to when I was starting out. If I finished a task and had no one around to give me direction I'd find something. Grab a broom, empty trash cans, wash trucks for the guys who were off shift. Things like that.blairandgretchen, exhausted379, CAXPT and 7 others Thank this. -
I finally made a list of things that always need to be done when your regular duties are done. They got the hint and did that too. They just didn't know they should be doing that as well. Eventually the light bulb went on and they saw if it needed done. (And took care of it without asking or being told.) I know that is not what you were hoping for, but it was a huge step for them.CAXPT, Big Road Skateboard, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this.

I did that for a while but with how busy we've been I haven't had a chance to. I actually did have some success with that method too now that I think about it. Guess I'll take the blame for that failure on my part.PPLC, CAXPT, Big Road Skateboard and 4 others Thank this.

Good idea. There's a whiteboard in our office not being used for anything important. I'm going to write out a list tomorrow AM of all the stuff that I'd like done regularly. I will send them to refer to it whenever they need something to do.
I like it.blairandgretchen, PPLC, CAXPT and 7 others Thank this. -
I always approach things as if I am the owner. If you own the business, you ALWAYS have something to do.
The guy that started the business did every dirty job in that business. -
@AModelCat , I misread your question. I apologize. I don’t think I can help you. For the most part, people suck.

They do.
I more or less just want to try and train these kids to work with minimal supervision and instruction. It'll benefit them in the long run.
