I do not use works, I use open office. I hear quicken business is a great program to use.
I believe the CPA man you are all speaking of is John Turner. I believe he has offices in Texas. His website is jturnercpa.comLast edited: Apr 13, 2010

OK... just wanted to update ya'll...
We did get our promised phone call from ATBS this morning (Ryan emailed me saying it would be today not Monday) and got the skinny on our 2009 Tax Return from a senior tax accountant. She was professional, though cool... gave me the info on the phone... we are getting a refund. We didn't know if it was going to be pay or refund, hence my concern from the start of this, especially when I was told by two people from their office... that some of their client's tax returns would NOT get done this week and hinted we might be one of them!
Back to the phone call... there was an overtone of defensiveness throughout. She misunderstood my comment at the start of the conversation when I said "we're moving... let me get to the back of the truck." So at the end she says... OK... so you are moving where?" I replied: "Oh no... we're NOT moving/changing addresses... we're in the truck and it's moving." She replies defensively: "You said you were moving." Duh... we're in the truck driving business... we're on the road... we "move".
Discussing this later with Randy... this is the attitude we get all the time... we say something... they misunderstand (verbal or email vise) and then they get all defensive about their mistake. Maybe I/we are not always 100% concise, but the ATTITUDE from them is always there. We are just plain tired of fighting with them and paying for ATTITUDE DUDE. My saying to that is "Lose the 'Tude Dude"! They won't... so they will be losing another customer. It's too bad as the concept of having someone do this for you is a great idea... and we now appreciate our former accounting company at CRE that did this service so much more! But Life moves forward...
I've used Quicken's Tax Turbo in the past, regular version... do I need to get the Business version? I was going to input all of this via Quicken Home Business version I upgraded to, but to utilize it I have to create a cash account to record all cash paid expenses and have a debit/credit set up for balancing purposes and enter the settlement info via the register. A simpler way is to set up a spreadsheet like Alan has had and manually enter my info into a tax software program when preparing taxes. We have the Tax Organizer ATBS sent us so that is a help.
I'd love to hear more from everyone that does their own taxes.
Grizz... "I" missed you last night at Wilcox, my fault. I was tired and lazy... hoping you might come by the truck. I ate... caught up on emails and went to bed. At least Randy got to see ya again!
So if people from the JCT office read this... it would so behoove all of us if you perhaps research another tax company for the drivers. We get enough "attitude" out on the road as it is... we certainly don't need to pay for it. -
well didnt get out of tyson till 0400 this morn now sitting in van horn tx waiting for hotdogs to finish cooking,,,no luck on a relay or swap and its a no go on dropping at phoenix tommorrow, will finally have a negative week or if lucky and did well on fuel will at least pay trk/taxes and home budget,,I'll just have to cruise on last pay overage...unless of course nightime can find me a swap,,(this load delvs 0300 thur) but all in all still a good day and like I said should at least break even or close to it. not to bad for a newbie and coming off hometime!
