I use the Falcon Electronics 3-8 camera system. If you use the same trailer all the time it is well worth having a camera on the rear. IMG_2621.png IMG_2620.png IMG_2619.png

I think @Siinman has a pretty extensive system on his truck. He should have some good info for you.

I like that system. The point of the cameras for us is to prove liability if something where to occur buut a backup camera sounds nice too. .

    Did you install that yourself?

Do you have a pic showing your wire connection to the trailer where you can unplug it?

does it rewrite the memory when it's full?

    Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this.

I got the largest hard driver memory and it does rewrite when it is full. I run mine 24/7 and I don’t know exactly how many days before it re-writes but it is several. They make a plug very similar to the plug on the front of your trailer, but you don’t need one because each cable has a male and female end. Therefore you get one the length from your DVR to the back of the cab. Then I have one from the front of the trailer to the camera on the back of the trailer. The cables plug in to each other and only will connect one way. Any outside connections need a rubber sleeve or heat shrink. I believe all the cables now come with a the rubber sleeve to cover the connections which I have on the tractor to trailer connection. Even though the connections are weather proof without the heat shrink or rubber sleeve it will eventually get moisture. If you catch the moisture early when you notice one camera getting fuzzy and use electrical contact cleaner when you find it you will save the plug. A battery drill, zip ties and either rubber grommets or silicone is about all you need to install it in a couple hours.
Back of trailer camera mount and back of tractor are the pictures. It’s a car carrier so it may not be familiar looking to you. IMG_2623.png IMG_2622.png

I bought this system but have a few different kinds of cameras as well with it. They offer a few different kinds of cameras but it is the same set up.

    1. I have one camera facing the front of the truck to see all traffic coming towards me.
    2. Have one on the back of the truck to see under trailer and what is going on when bobtailing.
3 and 4. Have cameras on each side of big Mirrors so can see blind spots.
4.5. Have Cameras mounted up higher on the back fairings to see anywhere around the trailer.
    6. 7. Not hooked up yet but need to get it done at some point. Ran all the cables from truck to hook up to trailer. Want one in the back of trailer and one inside the trailer.

This system has I think 2TB Hard drive and also has online APP and can download. I have it hooked up to run 24/7 and runs off a AT&T 4G sim card added to my phone account. I can access it anytime of day or night.

    23 Volvo VNL 860

If you look at the bottom of the Mirrors in my picture you can see the cameras. Also look on the Black Fairing right inline of the window. That is the other camera and of course on both sides. Have a Mounted 10" screen inside that can view each camera alone or split screens.

Here is the trailer connection if your interested in it as well.

Same system as mine but you can add this to make it easier to unhook trailer.
