I was just there last night. As far as truck stops go, you could still do a lot worse but yeah it seems like you get two flavors of truck stops these days: mega chain stops which are packed and infuriating to deal with, and the borderline disgusting independent places that are mostly Punjabi owned. Guess which one the Stage Stop in Boise is now...
I will say the cash price on fuel was good and it was the clear Sinclair stuff that runs pretty good. That B20 or R99 garbage they sell in Oregon at most joints is bad news so the idea is to cram as much real fuel from Idaho in as possible before you leave.
I can tell it used to be a pretty happenin' place back in it's heyday. Across the parking lot looks like there used to be a mechanic shop and a honky tonk.
