I have a 2009 peterbilt 389, the problem is cruise control doesn't work. When you turn on cruise the screen on dash says press and release clutch pedal before setting cruise and puts some kind of icon picture and then if you try to set it again then check engine sign comes on screen. Cruise will not set. Does anyone else have or had this problem, if so please advise what I could try to fix problem. Thanks

Your cruise control can be disengaged by two things. One being a out of adjustment clutch switch which automatically cuts off the cruise and an intermittent transmission speed sensor signal. The sensor has a tendency to pick up shadows if not adjusted correctly.

On the older petes there is a grease fitting that is hard to reach. Some shops won't grease it if it does not have the flex tube on it. It will affect both jakes and cruise. It is effected by the clutch.

I am having this same problem on a 2014 Peterbilt 587. Try to set the cruise control and the screen on dash says "press and release clutch pedal before setting cruise". Any ideas?

I know this thread is old, but what was the cause of the " press and release clutch pedal before setting cruise" solution? I have a 2014 pete 388 doing same thing. Pto cruise works at standstill. According to my prolink, all looks normal. New sensor for fun also.
