I drive for a smaller company based in Cincinnati, but I drive out of Columbus. Some of us have heard the Schneider rumor too. I can not see that happening. None of the Advantage drivers (what KAG is here) know anything about it.

As for the KAG drivers in Columbus... They have become the Swift of the gas hauling. They do some of the dumbest things. There are only a few good ones and they are owner/ops.

wow, their may be some kind of offer since they are running about 50 gas tankers around the chicago area.
C'mon man, just another gas hauling rumor to add to the daily excitement.
Here in toledo its I'd have to say that for the other companies, as we have to pump out other companies stations or they borrow our pipe to do it.
I think its mostly resentment at kag cause were so big, dont let yourself get caught up in the stupid remarks that less intelligent people get sucked up in.
I have noticed in other cities that the commradery among gas haulers is pretty bad compared to here.

Does anyone have any info on the terminal here in JAX..? I have applied to them because they had an add, they sent me a paper application which I filled in and sent back via fax 2 days ago....

I do not have any Tanker exp. and don't have my tank endorsement but I am willing to get it. The impression I got was they would train me but I did not know that it would 12hr days/6 days a week.

Honestly, is this something a woman can do..? I used to do flatbed in a Team situation and yeah I cannot lift a 100 lb tarp very high but I am not a girly girl either I am more of a tomboy type.

I am wondering if they are even going to call me back after reading the other posts...local work is so hard to get here esp. when I am not wanting to do City P&D but wanting linehaul.

    Oh well keep looking...~sigh~

WOW..haven't heard that..I see that they're buying up a lot of companies..
Met a Richmond,Va driver a couple of months ago..said he was working 14 hrs
days..Does that play into high driver turnover in fuel hauling? He's an 8yr vet..

I work for another Petroleum carrier and we have a Women driver in another terminal and she isn't a big gal by any strtch of the imagination either. She has been only working here a little under a year and she is a little slow. Starting out they won't give you much work to do until they feel comtrable with your abilitys. Once you get some experiance you will learn how to manipulate the hoses and it will not be very physical. Manipulating the hoses is something that can't be taught. I don't see why a women couldn't do it but you have to be determined

    Sacred Feline Thanks this.

There are a handful of women doing the job up here. I wouldnt let it stop you it really depends on how determined you are. There are tricks to handling the hoses where you rarely feel the whole weight. It takes time to adapt to the job no matter who you are. As far as starting out with a larger common carrier there nothing wrong with that. If there willing to train you it might not be perfect but it will open doors later on. I have found that hauling fuel is consistent and allows me to have a life outside of the truck.

Thanks SmokeMac & Tanker for the support. I am very determined to do this as I too need to have a life outside of trucking...(as I type this the pull for the road is still strong...~lol~) because my s/o has a good job and feels that we should use this opportunity to get off the road for good... I am having a tougher time with this as I have been driving longer than him...anyway hopefully they will give me an opportunity.

    Thanks again for your honesty.

Yeah, they're a few women pulling fuel..Saw a woman dropping diesel at the Flying J in W.Memphis,Ar last month..She was in and out,in about 30mins.. She had to take the hoses off the truck and didn't seem to have any trouble at all.

One of the easier jobs hauling fuel is working for one of the truck stops
(Pilot, Loves, Flying J, etc.). They are easy to get in and out of and you are usually only hauling one product. I know Pilot will train you if you have driving experience. The other thing to factor in is that they are doing there own work and are busy all year long. I too had a hard time letting OTR go but it does fade the longer you are away from it. I know few drivers who have left us for OTR that are doing better than they were hauling fuel.
