I know about 12-14 years ago, when I was at Dayton Freight Lines, they were putting new hires in new trucks. I asked about that, and my manager said company wide, too many prospective drivers were turning down the job offer when they saw what tractor they would be assigned. For me, I didn’t care as that was when they were transitioning to auto-shifts, which I didn’t want to drive.
