Yea, this is all new to me also, as I only delt with IFTA Interprovincial stuff before, or on site fueling. Most of the local gravel guys, all go into retail stations and use the diesel pump on the end of the island. I did this once, and was like "this is a disaster waiting to happen" lol. Hence I talked the owner into getting fleet cards with retail diesel pricing.

When did they start with this split pricing BS?
-
Once I got talking to some actual fuel reps (Suncor, Cenovus, Shell, NOT the Petro Pass, Flying J, Esso, Chevron Minions) it was no issue to get the Inter-AB local pricing on all our fuel cards.
We now have Petro-Pass, Flying J/Shell, and Cenovus/Esso, for our mixed fleet of clear diesel, dyed diesel and gasoline.
Hughes Petroleum in Edmonton/Area is still the better deal, but this is the best I was able to find in Calgary.
Also for those who know, the old Husky (now Esso) truck stop on 32nd and Barlow in Calgary, got total ripped apart and redone, even the truck parking! Its opening soon, can't wait to go check it out, since my yard is 5 mins away. Now maybe they will do something with that disgusting Flying J cardlock around the corner. -
I’d Check UFA or AFD. Both work really well for a small operation in Alberta.
beastr123 Thanks this. -
The deal Esso offered, really can't beat it, esp because its one card, mixed fuels, cardlock, retail and TA/Petro in the US. Huge discount right off the bat, and new Truckstop 5 mins from the yard.beastr123 and Albertaflatbed Thank this. -
