Oh yeah man, I actually pulled one last week up to Minnesota and back. It was about 2 or 3 of us out in Denver with the Champs Chicken trailers. I pulled into Jefferson City Coke, and the unloaders asked me if I has chicken in there lol

Haha yea I came out of Louisville headed west and thru Illinois and Indiana it was a Climate brigade and everyone had Climate trailers and it sparked a reminder I hadn’t seen a chicken trailer in awhile. Good to know they’re still around!Thrasher28, Peace_Maker, Lumper Humper and 1 other person Thank this.

Oh yeah, then there were new reefers on the yard. Saw quite a few of them at Craftsmen too. I think the 36 series trailers about to be gone. Some of them have ungodly amount of duct tape on the walls....hell in a couple of them I put the duct tape there lol. When it gets to that 10 year mark, man....the wear you see on those trailers is ridiculous lolmotocross25, 57 model, Peace_Maker and 2 others Thank this.

Yep you’re absolutely right. Plus after 10 years the insulation in those things get so waterlogged. At least they used to. Not to mention I picked up ice cream at a few cold storage warehouses before and they wouldn’t load a trailer over 10 years old. I guess they don’t trust it is the only thing I can think of.bryan21384 and Peace_Maker Thank this.

I've picked up at places that won't a trailer over 5 yrs old if I remember right. That was loading paper rolls on a dry van out in Pa.bryan21384 and Peace_Maker Thank this.

We found a house. Our offer was accepted yesterday. Seller is replacing the roof. Tear off with new 25 yr shingles. Also gonna fix a couple minor plumbing issues and a ceiling fan. They're supposed to be signing off today. I'll arrange for the inspection tomorrow and then we'll head towards appraisal and final closing. As long as everything goes smoothly then closing will be on or before Sept 2nd. It's in a little town called Maud just a little southwest of Texarkana on 67. We will be 170 miles from the kids and the same distance from my Aunt in Jacksonville Ar.
So visiting will be much easier.Peace_Maker, dwells40, mdmgolfin and 5 others Thank this. -
I don't even blame companies for not loading ice cream on trailers that old. The performance difference is noticeable on older trailers. They can't even get to 10 below at all unless it's cold outside. Ever since we started hauling frozen products in and out of Holts Summit, I started noticing more closely which trailers could handle those temps in this heat. Real talk, when it gets this hot, I'm not so sure if it ain't better to just run it continuous as opposed to start stop like they tell us. To get it down to frozen temps takes hours on end. I definitely can see why they won't load ice cream on old trailers. I think older trailers are ok for loads that don't require frozen temps, and even then they get so beat up on the inside that they're just falling apart. I wonder what Craftsmen does with all of those older trailers that DOT Transportation and Climate have left over there...Peace_Maker, motocross25, Lumper Humper and 1 other person Thank this.

Oh yeah, I've been refused down in Louisiana before. They wouldn't load roll stock on trailers past 10 years old, even if the trailer was in great condition. That was back when I was working for one of those hole in the wall companies. I'm not the biggest fan if hauling roll stock. Up to this point I haven't had to with Climate, but I've heard other drivers have. Most of the dry vans aren't that old but there are a few that do look a little shaky, I think one was 1136, that we still use. I took that one down to NC not long ago, and i could see where it's a little leaky on the floor board. That trailer is old as hell lolPeace_Maker, Lumper Humper and Thrasher28 Thank this.
