Since my GPS costs $450 I covered it with a fabric sunshield. I also didn't leave it charging 24/7 from brand new until it was broken. When I slept, it was off and unplugged. I got 5 years out of the Rand McNally RM740 which was pretty flimsy. I

SOME cellphone repair shops can work on GPS. I would have it repaired by the maker of the GPS or an online service.

I’m using Trucker Path app on company tablet. My company has unlimited data on tablets we can use. I’m paying $99 year for Trucker Path. Hopefully that place can repair it. That’s why I like the apps currently because I had truck GPS in the past had trouble with them and no place fix it.

I always use google maps on my phone. I have an unused truck gps in my truck, but it is so unreliable it’s ridiculous. Claims roads have weight limits when they don’t and tries to take me down low weight roads, even sometimes gravel roads. Google maps I can zoom in on my route before I ever leave and figure out how to go. If something looks questionable I always have a plan b so I’m not suddenly in a jam. I do local delivery around New England, and even around Boston a truck GPS is a total joke in my opinion.

I use a Dezl and mount it on the dash with a hard mount to keep it out of the sun.

I had my Dezl on a ram mount bolted to the underside of the over head console where the CB radio sat.

I've never had either of my Garmins go out. I leave them on the windshield 24.7 OTHER than on hometime, when I yank it out of the truck and bring it into the house so nobody's filthy little fingers decides they need it more than I do. I have the 1010. It's pretty nice.

I combine it with google maps and street view on my laptop to take a look at the route I'm going to be taking. Any questionable areas I use the street view. Talk about nice. Google maps will usually take me to the building, albeit in the front and sometimes I need the back entrance. But the Garmin can sometimes be off, way off on actual addresses to go to. That's where google finishes the job for me. By the time Garmin gets me close, there is usually only one way in, and google finds it.

Copilot is a one time license. And works really good when the parameters are set. It only struggled with california.

It was very rare I had to use my atlas. And the only time I used google. Was california.

Tablets with gps are a whole lot cheaper. Old no longer used cell phones too. And I never used in the windshield.

I like Trucker Path better than my Garmin DEZL OTR610. I run both at the same time usually and Trucker Path makes less mistakes and is pretty reliable at taking me exactly where I need to go. It gets a little goofy in rural areas at times but that about it. Certainly well worth the sub IMO.

I have my Garmin mounted over the tachometer so it doesn't really get exposed to much sun.

They made a couple update to the app and you can download the maps if you want and not be limited to cell phone data coverage. I see they added live camera viewing if you want to see a live video of camera and road conditions and it’s included seems to be included with the $99 dollar plan unless if free for everyone.

You say it better then the Garmin OTR that good to hear. I seen the Garmin OTR videos and the look good also but always wondered how the two compared to each other other.
