I made more per week on unemployment. My current job pays about $650.00 a week. I feel that this is a totally lame wage. I'm hoping that teams make more than $650.00 per week, as I'm looking to team with a co-worker in the next few months.

I'd hazard a guess it's Canadian $$ (not as bad as it used to be), since he's a Canadian driver, based in Canada, working for a Canadian company.

I agree wholeheartedly!
I know I live in Australia, but with the $ exchange rate, I can make the equivalent of US $400 per week doing three line haul legs!
I wouldn't get out of the sleeper for a full time OTR job that only pays me that much!

I can make $400 in just over one day and I'm a solo driver.
My last check (for two weeks) was $3000 gross. The check itself was $2700 plus I had $150 in perdiem and another $150 for drop pays. That was driving 3000 miles on week (monday morning till 8am friday morning) then 2500 miles the next week (monday morning till about 4pm thursday, then 300 miles on sunday local driving) so basicly I get three days off and gross $3000
so don't tell me solo drivers can't make money. you just have to find the right job. Plus I drove team for three years and you are basicly exhausted from the second day on. You just can't sleep in a moving truck, at least I can't -
If $400 wk take home is it, I'm going to rethink this. That isn't much above poverty level in any state.

When starting out, you must pay your dues, and in most cases for a newbie, finding someone who will hire you and train you can be difficult. 400/wk I would figure is just starting out, I am sure it gets better after you get more and more miles. Solo's can make big money but in some cases maybe its not enough for the guy next to you, he may like way more money and buy lots of luxury type material. He may think you don't make enough; the money is out there, just depends what you want. Schneider I have heard is wonderful place to start. Pay your dues and move on if you want.

I am guessing you are getting the guaranteed amount that Schneider offers its new trainee's. That would be $500/gross a week, so it seems that you have just not found your grove yet. Good luck, but I am hoping to make a few more bills a week after a couple weeks out, but only time will tell.

Im leaving next week for my 6 to 8 wks training run with Star Transport unless I find a local before then. They pay trainees $350 wk so making $400 wk once I get my own truck would really suck.
