Joe said he was in a truck stop in NJ. There was a large group gathered in a circle as he walked up they were admiring a truck.
4000 White, original set back axle, with about 2 feet of extra frame rail welded on the front with the radiator and all moved forward.
The steel butterfly hood was from two trucks. Looked to be welded together with a torch and a coat hanger in the middle. It was painted safety orange with a brush. Door handles, rubber around the glass and everything. Actually they were laughing.
Then a little old man walked up to the truck and they were poking at him. Joe said his age and he was on up there at 75 - 80 or so.
The old man answered them. " Well boys. When the fenders get to going this away, both hands together waving up and down, and the head lights get to going this away, hands waving opposite each other, all that V12 needs is more road! The crowd exploded.
Then the old man drew his line in the sand. Got his time stamped produce paper work out of Florida. I do not remember the times but the crowd started rolling away.

Hope you got your laugh for the day. I thank it is true.
Those old transmissions can take a lot. It is the mud holes, spinning a couple of tires in sand on black top and grabbing type stuff that usually kills them in my opinion.Oxbow, Deere hunter, ElmerFudpucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Those trucks must have been very rare as I cannot find one on Google. Other than Joe's picture I saw another one in a parade. That was in Stewardson Ill in 1976. They were cab overs. Anyone have a picture of one of those?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
My 1650lb rated 10 speed transmission without oil cooler stands up to 1950lb . Don't think all those ratings matter much on a regular OTR truckOxbow and BoxCarKidd Thank this.

Shop advised they do not have room to store truck or components once stripped. Found a couple salvage yards who would pay ~$3,000 for it. This would net about about $1,700 more than insurance keeping truck based off of current salvage value.

Thank you but Joe's and the one in Stewardson were not white as the base color. They were dark. Maybe black or maroon.Oxbow Thanks this.

If the salvage yard doesn’t specify the motor needs to run. Things like the injectors and ecm will bring decent money and can be removed with basic tools.
