If L/S has not terminated your lease already you maybe ok. Most of the time the termination is done pronto.

 

I wonder if Landstar even does DAC?

 

I would think so. It is a very thorough process when you lease on. Takes awhile to get it all done.

 

That sounds right. As long as he had no black marks like a late delivery or what not they prolly will keep him. They are self insured and they're pretty good about paying up for accidents.

 

Yes they check your DAC. They are self insured and it's one easy way to clear a drivers trucking record. They also checked my MVR.

 

What is Landstars SPECIFIC policy on fuel discounts and fuel surcharges. How do they determine AND disclose the baseline to the BCO's?
Do BCO's ever see the paperwork that confirms that 100% FSC is actually going to them? Is the baseline calculated company-wide or by the individual agents. Do they use DOE stats or fuelsurchargeindex ?

 

Specific fuel discounts: Some trucks stops have a cents off discount per gal. Others are on a cost plus. Neg. the FSC with an agent? You can and if you get 10 cents more per mile 10 cents comes off the linehaul.(Inclusive loads) As for all the rest of your questions: I never move this truck untill I have a freight bill. That freight bill details FSC, Linehaul,miles, weight,pick up/Del dates,and any other fees or charges. So 100% of the time I know 100% of the money details.

 

Landstar tells you that they use the DOE stats but they only go week to week. So if there is a huge increase before the next change then you bite it. You load sheet that you can have faxed to your truck via e-mail will have the breakdown for you. However you never get to see the actual numbers that Landstar uses.
The agents get the fuel surcharge rates from Landstar also but as far as I know they don't get to see the actual figures.
If an agent gives you more than Landstar specifies and LS catches it on your settlement they will deduct it from your following settlement. Without asking you.
It's better to get the agent to pay you extra tarp fees. (Even if you don't tarp the load) because 100% of that goes to you and LS can't take that away. (Not sure how DRY Van O/O's get more for fuel).

Bottom line is this: If a customer wants to pay you more for fuel and it's above what LS says is 100% of the DOE FSC, then you'll not get it. The agent will put it in with the line haul and the agent, LS and you will split it.

So even though you do get a decent FSC, it's not always what it should be and that's just part of doing business with Landstar.

That's my experience anyways.

 

How are you all doing at Landstar these days??? Freight seems to be picking up and from what I hear, those that get paid a percentage of the load will be the first to see their pay increase.

Can someone tell me how many miles they are getting a week and what's their average per mile pay???

 

"The freight environment continues to improve. Recent trends in March, and thus far in April, indicate that both the revenue per load and the number of loads hauled remain strong compared to the corresponding prior year periods. I expect these trends to continue throughout the 2010 second quarter. As such, I would anticipate second quarter 2010 revenue over second quarter 2009 revenue to increase in the upper teens to low twenty percent range. I would also anticipate Landstar's earnings for the 2010 second quarter to be within a range of $0.44 to $0.49 per diluted share. Our longer term goals continue to be achieving a cumulative average revenue growth rate over a three to five year period in a mid-teen range, to increase annual operating margins and to grow diluted earnings per share at a slightly higher rate than the rate of revenue increase." Landstar's Chairman, President and CEO, Henry Gerkens said.
