Not being a smart*ss or anything, but you saw the thing on the ground and ran over it anyway hoping for the best? If you file any claim, I would seriously choose my words differently than you have here. Not busting your chops, just saying.

You lost me at '' got a screwdriver and tried to turn the engine over '' . Unless the screwdriver was 3ft long and looked awfully alot like a pry bar .
Stringb8n and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Might be a good time to buy a new radiator. Test cac for leaks, get a new one if needed. Free installation. Good to hear you’re catching some breaks. Proof it’s not always a total disaster. Newer engine, less miles. Not bad. American Radiator, wwwcoolingsolutions.com. Save you a few bucks compared to a OEM replacement with Dealership Labor. An easy $3000 job these days.

Unfortunately the DD platform is non forgiving, I have a graveyard of Cascadia's with DD13 and DD15 with sized engines due to lack of oil,. This platform is not like the 60 series and it is not the million mile engine they claim . I have 2 trucks out of 70 that did hit the million mile. This platform even if your oil change is not done properly it will with time seize up. We had so many lock up that on every service we were priming the oil thru the top at least 2-3 gallons would be primed thru the top. Then towards the end I started to drop oil change oil filter refill oil start tricl. then change the fuel filters. With that being said we eventually updated our fleet with
eterbilt's, Volvo's and KW and believe it or not out of all these my best running truck is the Volvo.

OP if you can replace the radiator, shop for a radiator that has metal tanks not plastic like the original.
Good luckRideandrepair Thanks this. -
My first DD15 had 1.2 million miles on it and was still running when I sold it. The one I have now has 905K on it.xsetra, Rideandrepair, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.

This thread seems to have completed. The company will get insurance money and I hope they get a good amount. An insurance claim is never good.
The insurance has basically accepted my claim and I will have an engine in my truck with fewer miles.
All is not Rosie but at least I am still in trucking. I hope my experience and this thread helps anyone down the road in a similar situation.
I was lucky in being leased on to a good company that will do whatever makes business sense to keep me rollin.
This thread had some great advice and at the same time some sophisticated error prone advice. If you care or need to know see the full thread. You will see the drop in commentators and the more mature comments.
I was also lucky in the trucking company sending me a loaner truck in fast time and towing my truck to their shop. Thank God for this blessing. My goal is to make a business out of trucking and I thought getting my own DOT was the answer. Now I realize after this incident that I need to grow a few trucks with the company I am with and then get my own DOT. This to me is the most risk managed way of transitioning to my own fleet. Please don’t listen to the fake macho talk. If your leased on to a good company you are a franchisee.OldeSkool, Diesel Dave, nikmirbre and 2 others Thank this. -
