The keg and cheese puffs are in the corner.
Got grab some and pull up a chair.

What we need here is a group hug.
Each has their own opinion and nothing will change that. They must agree to disagree and both move on.
OK you two, both of you come to the center of the ring and shake hands

This isn't a petty b'fest. Notarps knowingly misconstrues what happened to him as a company-wide deal instead of an isolated incident in a small segment of the companies business. Then he paints the entire company with a broad brush that's unwarranted, indicting segments of the trucking business he's never worked in as far as I know. Screwed up things can happen at any company - sometimes its the coincidence of outside influences (the lack of new tractors that he bemoans) or some screwed up loads (maybe the fault of an incompetant load coordinator.)
But the fact remains that this is not the experience of many. Prime pays better than the schlock companies that run new drivers into the ground. Prime will get you home, unlike many of the slave labor organizations. Prime runs good, new equipment and keeps it in good repair, unlike many of the c.r.a.p. companies that tell a driver to run that c.r.a.p. or find a different job with a now-trashed DAC report. Like any company Prime has it's ups and downs. But notarps takes vindictiveness to a new level.
B-fest? I hardly think so.DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
Curious, how steady is the freight for u guys at Prime? Any idea's on the tanker side? I know they haul only food grade.
-
We haul any #### thing you can put into a trailer. Food grade only? We haul dry van loads, hazmat, you name it.
They've been running our butts off this year, and we didn't do anywhere close as poorly as the dry van outfits did during the depths of the recession. At least that's my opinion after talking with Marten, Crete, Werner, Swift, and any one else who was sittin' around truckstops when we weren't. Just my view from the seat of a company driver... -
I think he was referencing the tanker division on this. And if I'm not mistaken, tanker only does food grade. From what I've heard on the safety CD's, our tanker division has been doing very well recently. But I really know nothing about the tanker side and haven't spoken with one of our tanker yankers for about a year.
I'm also a company driver on the reefer side, and I get all the miles I want. This week is my first slow week in a very long time. Had an extra day on a load over the weekend, and just emptied out at 9pm this evening but don't pick up my next load until 1pm tomorrow afternoon a few miles away. But to be fair, that is my load home for home time so my options for loads were limited this week.
For the last month plus, every single load I've had has been long tight runs, and as soon as I'm empty they get me dispatched again right away. I haven't calculated out my average length of haul for the last 4 weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's somewhere around 1,200 miles or more. The only times I've received runs under 1,000 miles in the last month is if I'm up against my 70hr clock. And even then, they utilize the full hours I have available. It has become a "game" of sorts for me. Planning out loads, especially on these e-logs can be tricky. But in order to maximize miles, I have been doing a lot of overnight parking at customers to get in a 10hr break and be ready to go immediately after unload. One load that had some time I was able to deliver early and got another load right away.
When it comes to these e-logs, it would be very easy for a person with my same dispatcher to complain about not getting miles. Trip planning and being proactive on maximizing hours, being willing to roll at any time of the day or night, etc., is key to getting miles when on e-logs.
All I gotta say, as for the reefer side, is if this is a poor economy still, Prime is a solid company that will keep you moving. I get as many miles as I can legally handle.DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
Yes, i was referring to the tanker division. Thank you for all the info, setting up orientation.
-
In the 3 1/2 months that I have been here, I have only talked to 2 tanker guys and they both said they are happy and doing well.
My .02
