Websites aren't always up-to-date. Especially, hiring area jobs available. Some driver could quit right now and leave an opening, but that won't show on the website. That's why you should apply, even if you think you won't be hired.

You won't know if any company is hiring or not until you submit an application. Phone calls are a waste of time. Submit the application from the trucking company website. Wait 3 or 4 days, then follow up with a phone call to check on your job application.
Calling first won't cut it in this industry.

I would I have to have 6 months with them for marine and glass division. I'll just have to bite the bullet and get with Swift or something like that. Been trying to ignore the elephant in the room but it hasn't really gotten me anywhere lol. I was told that OTR isn't necessary for something local or to get some experience but it sure is looking like it right now. Was considering a class B job even though it doesn't translate to class A experience but I need more than what im making now.

honestly yeah you're right. I usually get discouraged when I see the "3-6 month experience" part on applications and websites cause I figured that if the jobs that takes new grads arent hiring me, my chances of getting with companies that require experience could be even low.

I didnt get with werner. I had a yard trainer from my school telling me that they bait new drivers out of school but also bends them over and isnt a great starter company so i steered away. I can check with them again. I dont see a lot of their trucks around so that a good thing? assuming they're always moving.

    Bite the bullet?

    With Swift?

NEWS FLASH: The current CDL job market is no place for cherry picking....with no previous CDL experience.

Schneider "bent me over" as well....but I also got some really good experience there....and moved on to better things.

Most starter companies are probably guilty of the "bend drivers over" charge (in some way) -- that's just part of being a new driver.

Yeah maybe bite the bullets wasn't a great choice of words lol I just get so much backlash whenever I bring up swift, leading me to believe that they're this terrible mega carrier. I do agree with you though. With no experience, it is very slim choices and no real room to be picky. Wish I could've took that advice 3 months ago and I'd already have some experience honestly.
