I would imagine that the movement of a truck on any interstate may scratch the disc. Are you running as a team operation with someone else? If you are, sleeping is what you should be doing instead of spending time with a game system. I have tried to use my laptop while the truck is moving(co-driver at the wheel) and I just can't stand those random potholes/grooves that shake the entire sleeper section of our Volvo vn670.
tl;dr - shaking = bad for home electronics -
I had my son with me and it damaged grand theft auto 4 while in the system. Damb grape vine....can send a man to the moon, but can't make a smooth road.
I know he did play it some while I was driving though... -
A couple of members have already mentioned, you will eventually get failure. This is to include computers and the internal components. I could sit here and type a few paragraphs explaining the differences of shock and vibration. This link I'm posting, is on server chassis but you need to read some of the print in the article. Keep in mind. servers are rack mounted and not traveling down the road. Most of this applies to other applications as well.

The only suggestion I could possibly make. If your going to use the system while the vehicle is going down the road. Set the unit vertical instead of horizontal. Don't ask me, I just know this from working in a testing lab. You will get some reading errors but it is less susceptible from killing the hard drive.
LostOne9 Thanks this.
