i'm stuck on which company to go to and if I should pay for my cdl training myself. The companies im interested in are magnum they offer training but you have to have your cdl already, terminal is in my city. Hill brothers also located in my city but you also have to have your cdl before applying. then there's rhoel they don't hire in my area but can relocate to Phoenix. i'm interested in doing regional more than OTR. the reason I like rhoel is that they have conestogas or curtain sides. i'm getting my CPL next Thursday, just need some advice. thank you.

Have all of those companies reviewed your record and agreed to hire you once you have a CDL or are you relying on "The Driver Shortage" myth and assuming you will get hired by anyone you apply for work?

Inexperienced drivers are not in demand in this trucking recession. If you have ANYTHING in your MVR, gaps in employment history, convictions, etc do not assume companies are willing to hire you right away.

Make each of those companies put you in contact with current working drivers, doing the work you will do, and ask them to describe pay, working conditions, schedules, etc to decide where to work.

Find the job, not just a web address or phone number for companies, and then decide about CDL school. If you enter the industry without research you, like 80% of newbies, will leave the industry in a few months. Your results depend on how much you know about your employer. A job is not a fast-food #2 value meal you can order and expect to be acceptable.
