What is wrong with the right lane unless you are passing?

That is standard practice in most states, even for cars.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

When on a freeway with 4+ lanes you still need to be in the right two that’s the difference

Plenty of parking on the way in, he could hit Patterson or Tracy around 60 miles away.

If you have agricultural freight, like seed or ?, you have to make sure it is compliant before entering CA. The AG station at Truckee will ask for your shipping papers and they will tell you if it is ok. Also have a secure lock on the trailer door when you enter CA, a locking bolt or a padlock is fine. The 55 speed limit in CA is not just for trucks, it is for vehicles towing a trailer, and keep to the right whenever possible. Do not forget to stop at the brake check area on Donner.

Keep it under 60 mph and just let everyone blow by you.. 57-58 is my CA speed and I normally get passed by 100% of trucks. The only ones I seem to pass are the ones taking their breaks on the shoulder :)

And make sure to stop at the TA in Barstow for the Black Bear Diner. Good food and portions are generous. Most other Black Bear Diners don’t really impress me.

Cajon Pass, inbound watch your speed going down.
Other than that it’s just another state.

REO6205, Sirscrapntruckalot and lual Thank this.

The right lane will have you slowing down everytime you hit a freeway entrance with traffic getting on.

Most always use the second right lane to avoid that crap.

    When allowed.

Diesel Dave and Grumppy Thank this.

The container haulers camped in the 2nd lane so it was impossible to move over when a 4-wheeler came up the on-ramp without bothering to properly merge.
