First Trip to CA, any advice?

What is wrong with the right lane unless you are passing?

That is standard practice in most states, even for cars.

When on a freeway with 4+ lanes you still need to be in the right two that’s the difference

 

Plenty of parking on the way in, he could hit Patterson or Tracy around 60 miles away.

Keep it under 60 mph and just let everyone blow by you.. 57-58 is my CA speed and I normally get passed by 100% of trucks. The only ones I seem to pass are the ones taking their breaks on the shoulder

And make sure to stop at the TA in Barstow for the Black Bear Diner. Good food and portions are generous. Most other Black Bear Diners don’t really impress me.

The right lane will have you slowing down everytime you hit a freeway entrance with traffic getting on.

Most always use the second right lane to avoid that crap.
