Yeah, I see what you're saying, $390 is no joke lol, I don't have a car and even when I park in Fort Pierce, which is closer to the house, my sister come and pick me up, so having her drive 2hr to Winter Haven to pick me up and drop me off won't be fun lol. Like I said before, regarding the dropping tank stuff, I just don't want to hunt for parking after going on a shopping spree in Walmart, I'd hate to be the guys that park on the ramps and stuff. Btw you guys don't have In-Cab cameras in your truck don't you?

We have a drop and hook customer in Ft. Pierce, not sure if you can leave your tractor there or not. At the very least you may be able to leave the tank there and find bobtail only parking cheaper. You could also leave the tank in Winter Haven and bobtail home, but you would have to see if they will allow that. I know a driver that lived in Vero Beach which did exactly that, but that was a closer distance.

I have a forward facing camera in my truck. Older trucks didn't have any cameras at all and I don't know if the latest new trucks have cameras.

Klingerstown, Pennsylvania is the one I spoke of. I don’t remember the facility name, but I think the product was edible egg. I would not recommend driving in there after dark. I’ve only been there twice.

I can leave the tank at that customer for 4-5 days? If would be good if I could bobtail from Winter Haven to Port Saint Lucie though, I would get a cheaper parking.

I have no problem with cameras outside the trucks, but when they have them inside the trucks, that's where my problem lies, that's the number one reason why I'm not staying with my current company, it feels like an invasion of privacy to me.

    I
I don't know for sure about that customer, you would have to ask. The better deal would be dropping the tank at Winter Haven. Best talk to a recruiter or someone with more info regarding bobtailing home from Winter Haven. My feeling is that it would be ok, but I don't know if there would be an issue.

I do know that there was a rule that if you lived within 90 miles of a terminal, the tractor had to be parked there, but I don't think that was enforced as I have seen IRT tractors parked in neighborhoods 10-15 miles away.

The camera is *in* the truck, but is forward facing. It doesn't have a rear lense pointing inward. No clue if it records audio. If someone wants to listen to me singing, that's their problem, not mine.

This brought back a funny memory…When I was in my 20’s, I ran a road grader for the County Highway Department in my home state. When it rained and things were too muddy to blade the dirt roads, they would send a handful of us out in pickups to cut limbs overhanging the highways, and busy-work of that nature, etc. The vehicles and heavy equipment all had fancy, commercial band radios that would reach for miles and were crystal clear, similar to police bands. One time when we were out, the guy riding in the center of the seat was sitting on the mic and had it keyed up while everyone was bashing the road foreman and talking about what an @&$ he was, etc. After about 5 minutes, one of the guys in the pickup received a phone call from the county commissioner telling us to get off the radio and that everyone within 30 miles could hear everything being said, including the office base station.

Why not? I used to run spring water from Tower City to Sunbury 5 days per week. I went through Pillow which is pretty much the way to get to Klingerstown, and the roads aren't that bad.

The roads I took were extremely narrow and had a lot of tight curves.I couldn’t remember the name of the town, so I went back to the beginning of the thread where I posted about it the first year I worked here. The forum member mentioned being new to the industry and not having a lot of driving experience, so I was discouraging them to drive those roads after dark. If you know the highway numbers of the route you take, I’m all ears and will put them in my notes app in case I get sent there again. I took the bad way in both times and would be happy to learn of a different route.
