Dang, I thought maybe the pandemic idiocy had subsided a bit. On the other hand, the engine in the W9 is probably worth half the selling price as a good core.

Tuesday after getting loaded in Houston with an overweight battery inverter going to Dickens, TX I get out on I-45 for a few miles and I let off the throttle and felt the drive line shaking itself to death. Right away I knew what the problem was. I pulled over to check it out and sure enough the rear drive axle airbags were way down because the top plate of the left airbag had rusted through and began leaking air and fast. This was at 415pm. Made some calls to round up a pair of bags and Fleetrite in Willis, TX had a pair for $290 out the door. I just had to get there by 500pm in rush hour with a busted airbag. I pinched off the air line so I could air up the rest of the system and I let just enough air into the bag to keep it partially inflated.
I knew I wasn't going to make it in time so I called Roberto at Fleetrite and paid for them and he sat them outside for me so I could pick them up after hours. Good deal. Grabbed the bags and hit the next exit going northbound and got to work. The rear axle airbags are very simple and I had the new ones installed and ready to rock in 40 minutes.
Now I'm back in Houston again and reloaded with another overweight battery inverter bound for Dickens, TX. These battery inverters weigh 58,500lbs and my loaded weight is 97,630lbs. I'm running these for these next month as a dedicated deal that actually pays pretty darn good.
Y'all be safe!Last edited: Sep 20, 2024
