I just found this out and I could be making a fool of myself thinking it is news worthy , but I am willing to admit to it if this is already well known.

Well now , not our Powers that be , nor even a oil/gas company can ever claim our fuel prices are rising because of any shortage. Ever. Not even the lies we have been told in the past.
We the general public are being played.
We have a pipeline running oil to the UK. Not that it matters because BP owns most of what we or at least me, thought was ours. We have so much over spill we are selling ours and buying Canadas.
This is not in anyway a complete story. There is a lot more to it. This is just what is public , available to everyone. I bet the GIANTS in all industries HATE the internet. The general public would never get their info without it.

There is no pipeline running oil to the UK. There is a pipeline connecting the US to British Columbia.

The US does have a deal to export LNG to Britian via ship which will then get exported to mainland Europe. Is that what you're talking about?

No, and I will look into what I was told , and find out.

A quick google search with references to Wikipedia says "it gets to the UK via pipeline , Tankers and rail.
Knowing that British Petroleum owns so many of what I thought where USA corporations, fuel, some of the major oil conglomerates , and TA truck stops, Petrol truck stops and more. I feel wiki would not lie. However i read it on google not wiki. I am no expert by any means. Some things , but not oil.

Pipeline and rail from extraction to refinery, refinery to port, then tanker to uk...

Theres not much confusing about that, you are simply leaping to the conclusion that there is a pipeline from the usa to the uk (which is metaphorically true, but not actually)

If you want to get bent outta shape over the qty exported, thats still on the table to be salty about, but remember that petrol price in europe is far higher than the usa, so even if it were american companies doing it, they have sound profit reasons to do so.

So not really sure what you want. If you prefer export maximums and wish the federal govt to manage oil companies...? That doesnt sound great either

Nah , I don't get bent outa shape easy nor do I want to. I also have quit using salt. :) :) It is a good thing too because there is nothing one person can do and I wouldn't know what to do anyway. I hear you , and I see I was skipping some and I have since learned a little . I appreciate being questioned, otherwise I wouldn't learn a thing.
I am just bothered by one thing. On all of this it is that we seem to be taught to live our lives through fear. Fear we will run out of gas so pay any price and shut up and wait in line. Fear we wont have TP to wipe our butts so buy up a truckload now. etc. etc. Why is that? Why are we (BTW i think for myself) letting our lives be formed around fear?
As for what I want? I just want to be free and happy, and that is an inside job.
Because I cannot change anything or anybody but me. So if I am to be happy I have to make myself happy.
I do not look to the powers that be, or any other person , place or thing.

I don't like a lot of things that I feel are pushed upon us. I may not even understand what it is or why, But I am not going to let it get me down.
I have been through what too much BS that I brought upon my self and today I am grateful to be alive. I am grateful to just be.

I am going off subject but this earth and this being alive is so precious all on its own. How could anyone want more? But we still do. We want power, we want to be right, we want money, we want, we want, we want, I am at a time in my life where each day and right now , I am happy, and I am grateful that I have learned that it is all on me. If I don't have enough of anything, I will be happy without it. Life is too short to worry about anything out of our control.

I am happy and grateful to all of you Drivers. I feel I can communicate to you Drivers, and be accepted , as I am , more than with anyone else. I am talking online, offline, face to face, anyway you can think of.

You all make me feel alive, you all , matter to me very much. And no matter where our oil is going , I am ok with it. Well as long as you all are.
Thank You all for being you. You have hearts that beat for the right or same reasons mine does.

Much love and happiness to you all , you bring so much happiness to everyone who is lucky enough to have any dealings with you, and even if you didn't you do to me and thats all I am able to concern myself with.

I see the 4 wheelers and they can steal my happiness for a little while , but all of you , putting up with them, has taught me so much. Like I don't have to get upset. They are terrible to me as well, but if you can take , I can try anyway. I for sure am not going to let them wreak my day.

Thank You Drivers for being one of the best if not the best part of my life. I love you. Truck Drivers Rule.

Why the fear mongering? Becuase there are things to fear. Before petroleum became mainstream, whale oil was a huge industry. Sometime in the 1880s, whale oil production peaked and the supply started to drop while demand stayed high. Without the advent of a new technology (petroleum), society would have had issues to deal with - lighting, machining, textiles all depended on whale oil. If the price of whale oil increased, the knock on effects would cause massive inflation and we've recently felt what that's like.

In the 1890s the London Times predicted that the City of London would be under 5 feet of horse manure by 1940. There were similar predictions made in Boston and New York. Groups formed and petitioned government to do something, law suits were filed and won - manure was regulated within the city, horses/wagons got taxed and the problem didn't get any worse. Then the automobile came into being and the problem disapeared.

This brought a new problem - air pollution, particularly lead levels. Despite wide spread opposition, in the 1980s, lead based fuel was phased out. Crime rates dropped, test scores went up while 'engine knock' never became a thing.

Let's not forget about acid rain:

How many rivers have sponteusly combusted lately? That used to be a thing.

In 1976, the USA consumed 17.5 million barrels of oil a day with a population of 218 million. In 2023, we use 20.2 with a population of 330 million. 50% increase in population but only a 15% increase in oil usage. That is due to more efficient use and renewable energy sources. Oil is a finite resource and if we had continued usage rates from the 70s and had not developed off shore drilling, fracking, and refinement technology we would have hit 'peak production' about when the scientists thought. However we identified a problem and worked to find solutions to it. We will find problems with the solutions, and we'll figure that out too provided we don't bury our heads in the manure and pretend there's not a problem.
