Maryland DOT kicks off $8.1 million truck parking expansion project at I-70 rest areas

Yes, sir! The commonwealth of Maryland is going to spend $8,100,000 of hard-earned taxpayer money to carve out 35 new truck parking spots in two rest stops along I-70.

That works out to be $231,428 per place to empty your piss bottle.

Now, I have not surveyed the land or have any idea what it would actually cost to hire a paving company to scrape away the dirt and debris necessary to pave 35 new parking spaces in an existing rest area and smooth out freshly dumped asphalt, but I strongly suspect it costs no where near $8.1 million dollars to do so.

You must think lining their pockets would be cheap. No way. I’m surprised they’re not taking more.

8 million for 25 spaces? lol

What's the point, gonna still be full 24/7 anyway.

Even in photo they used during daytime no spaces.

Considering it’s CDL Life journalism there’s probably some missing details..Like, probably the rest area’s are getting major renovations and they are getting some extra parking spots.

Does anyone believe for a minute that they’re spending all that money on just a few extra truck spots?

After reading more on the subject, I’m going to walk my last reply back.

Since the money is coming from government funds and not directly from MD taxpayers it probably just for truck parking.

Considering the new evidence of being government money there will probably be delays and cost overruns. All said and done the spots will probably amount to 1mil per :)

Hey great news we’re giving you extra spots but you won’t be able to use any for the next 2 years!

So instead of it being full 100% of the time, now it'll only be full 99.9999% of the time

Alot of that money money will go to clearing out the dense timber and vegetation... That kind of work is VERY expensive to get done.
